Who is responsible
Deborah Scudder, professionally known as Deborah Cleary, is a self-employed individual, personally responsible for the invitation list and its data controller. References to Deborah in this notice mean Deborah Scudder. This notice explains how personal information provided through the invitation subscription form on deborahcleary.com is handled.
Privacy enquiries, requests and withdrawals of consent can be sent to deborah@deborahcleary.com.
Information collected
The form collects your name, email address, selected event interests and preferred locations. It also records your consent, the wording and version of the consent notice, and the date and time of submission. A postal address is not requested.
Purpose and lawful basis
The information is used to administer Deborah’s invitation list and, when sending is enabled, to send occasional invitations matching your interests and locations. These include applied AI programmes, online AI education events, industry roundtables, business breakfasts, music, film and networking events. An invitation may include an opportunity to attend as Deborah’s guest; subscribing does not guarantee an invitation or a complimentary place.
The lawful basis for this invitation-list processing is consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR. Consent to email invitations is collected through an explicit opt-in, in line with the consent requirements for electronic marketing under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). The consent box is not preselected.
Providing your details is voluntary, not a statutory or contractual requirement. Without your name, a valid email address, at least one interest and location, and consent, a subscription cannot be saved. Consent can be withdrawn at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Who receives the information
Deborah administers the invitation list. Lovable Cloud supplies the website’s hosting and storage service and processes the submitted information to provide that service. Subscribers’ details are not displayed to other website visitors.
At present, submitting the form saves your details only: it does not send a newsletter or confirmation email, or transfer your details to Mailchimp. Mailchimp is the intended future mailing-list service mentioned in the consent notice, not a current recipient of these submissions. This notice will be updated with the relevant service and transfer information before it is connected.
International processing
Lovable Cloud offers regional hosting. The hosting region and any applicable international-transfer arrangements for this invitation list have not yet been confirmed. This notice therefore does not claim that information is held only in the UK or that a particular transfer safeguard applies.
UK data protection law requires a valid transfer arrangement where processing involves a restricted transfer outside the UK. The actual arrangements need to be confirmed with the hosting provider and reflected in this notice; general information about a provider does not establish the arrangements for this list.
Retention and withdrawal
Deborah has not yet set a fixed retention period for the invitation list. There is currently no scheduled automatic deletion of subscription records. This notice will be updated when the retention period or criteria have been decided.
To withdraw consent or request deletion, email deborah@deborahcleary.com and identify the email address used to subscribe. Withdrawal and deletion requests are handled by Deborah, rather than through an automatic unsubscribe service at this stage. Withdrawal means the information must no longer be used for consent-based invitations; it does not make earlier processing unlawful. Any exception to a deletion request must have a lawful basis and be explained.
Your data protection rights
UK data protection law gives individuals rights over their personal information. Depending on the circumstances, these include:
- Access: request a copy of your information and details of how it is used.
- Correction: ask for inaccurate details to be corrected or incomplete details completed.
- Erasure: request deletion, including where consent is withdrawn and there is no other lawful reason to retain the information.
- Restriction: ask for processing to be limited in the circumstances provided by law.
- Portability: where applicable to information you provided and processed automatically on the basis of consent, request it in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Objection: object where the law provides this right. Individuals have an absolute right to object to the use of their information for direct marketing.
- Withdrawal of consent: withdraw consent at any time.
Send requests to deborah@deborahcleary.com. Reasonable identity checks may be needed to prevent someone else accessing your details. Access requests must ordinarily be answered without undue delay and within one month. The law permits an extension of up to two further months for complex or multiple requests; the reason must be explained within the initial month. Requests are normally free of charge, subject to the exceptions allowed by law.
Complaints
Concerns can be raised with Deborah using the contact email above. Individuals also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), independently of contacting Deborah, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Automated decisions
The invitation subscription form records the preferences you choose. It does not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about subscribers.
External services and links
The website includes external links, a Google Calendar booking service and a YouTube video. Embedded Google booking and video content stay blocked until a visitor explicitly agrees to load the relevant service. Consent lasts for that page visit only and can be withdrawn using the control above the loaded content. Withdrawal stops further requests from that embed but cannot undo information already sent to Google or delete Google’s cookies.
Loading an external service shares technical information such as an IP address and browser details with its provider. Information supplied to an external service is handled under that provider’s privacy notice and applicable terms. Google’s notice is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
This notice covers the invitation list. Cookie and browser-storage information is set out on the cookie policy.
Changes
This notice will be updated when the way subscription information is handled changes, including before connecting a mailing service.
