Terms of use

About these terms

These terms apply to use of deborahcleary.com, including its articles, profile information and archive. They do not set the terms of a paid engagement, training programme, event or partnership; any such arrangement requires separate agreement.

Information, not professional advice

Website content is provided for general information. Articles and commentary are not legal, financial, investment or other regulated professional advice. Visitors should obtain advice appropriate to their circumstances before acting on information from the website.

Accuracy and availability

Information may be updated, corrected or removed. Archived publications describe their original publication period and may no longer be current. No guarantee is made that every page will always be available or free from errors. A correction or accessibility issue can be reported using the contact email above.

Copyright and third-party material

Copyright in original material belongs to Deborah Cleary or the relevant rights holder. Organisation names, logos, photographs, testimonials and archive contributions may belong to third parties; displaying them does not transfer their rights or imply endorsement of all website content.

Visitors may view content for personal use and share links to the website. Other copying, republication or commercial use requires the relevant rights holder’s permission unless permitted by law. Nothing in these terms restricts lawful quotation, fair dealing or other statutory exceptions.

Acceptable use

Visitors must not misuse the website, introduce malicious code, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation or use forms to submit unlawful content or another person’s details without authority.

Bookings, invitations and external links

A subscription records interest in invitations; it does not reserve a place or guarantee an invitation. Booking arrangements and event details should be confirmed separately. External links and embedded services are operated by their respective providers and are subject to their own terms and privacy notices.

Liability and statutory rights

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing removes any statutory rights a visitor may have. These terms do not create a blanket exclusion of liability.

Changes and questions

These terms may be updated to reflect changes to the website. The date above identifies the current version. Questions can be sent to deborah@deborahcleary.com.

Privacy policy

Deborah is the data controller for the invitation list. The separate privacy notice explains the information collected, consent, use of Lovable Cloud, future Mailchimp plans, withdrawal and UK data protection rights.

Cookie policy

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by a browser. Similar technologies include browser storage. They can support security and essential functions, remember preferences or enable external services. The UK rules on cookies and similar technologies are set out in PECR; non-essential storage or access generally requires consent unless a lawful exception applies.

Website hosting and security

Lovable Cloud and the website’s hosting infrastructure deliver pages and support security. Any cookies or similar technologies used strictly for a service requested by a visitor may qualify for an exemption from cookie consent. That exemption does not cover all cookies simply because a provider labels them necessary.

Google booking and video: your choice

Google Calendar booking and the YouTube video are blocked by default. No request to either embed is made until a visitor selects “Agree and load” for that service. Loading it shares an IP address and browser details with Google and allows its cookies and similar technologies. Booking by email is available without loading Google Calendar.

Agreement applies only to the current page visit; it is not saved in a cookie or browser storage. The “Withdraw consent” control removes the loaded embed. Leaving or reloading the page resets the choice. Withdrawal prevents further requests from that embed, but cannot undo data already sent or delete cookies on Google’s domains; those can be managed through browser or Google settings.

Google Fonts are used to display the website’s typefaces and involve browser requests to Google. An external request is not, by itself, evidence that a cookie is set.

Google provides cookie purposes and retention information and its privacy policy.

Cookie and browser-storage list

The following is the complete list observed in a fresh, signed-out browser check on 18 October 2026 across the home, booking, career, contact, legal and privacy pages. Expiry times were checked without recording cookie contents. It is an observed inventory, not a guarantee for every browser or Google account.

__cf_bm — Cloudflare security cookie
Purpose: bot detection and protection against malicious traffic. Domain: deborahcleary.com. Lifetime: 30 minutes of continuous inactivity, as documented by Cloudflare; a 30-minute expiry was also observed. Category: security. Provider documentation.
__dpl — site-domain cookie
Purpose and provider: not yet confirmed by the hosting provider. Its name alone does not establish its purpose or an exemption from consent. Domain: deborahcleary.com. Lifetime: 24 hours from the latest setting, observed in the browser; navigating between pages renewed that expiry. This is an observed duration, not a provider-confirmed guarantee.
tsr-scroll-restoration-v1_3 — website navigation storage
Provider: this website’s TanStack Router navigation software. Purpose: remember scroll positions when moving between pages. Type: session storage, not a cookie. Lifetime: the browser tab session, normally until the tab is closed; browsers may restore session storage when restoring a tab. Category: navigation functionality.
Google Calendar and YouTube — optional external services
Provider: Google. Purpose: provide booking or video playback; Google may also use cookies for preferences, security, measurement or advertising depending on the service, account and browser settings. Lifetime: varies by cookie. No Google cookies were observed after loading Calendar in the fresh-browser consent test; this does not establish that none can be used. Google does not provide a fixed appointment-embed inventory, so unverified cookie names or lifetimes are not presented as site-specific facts. These services stay blocked until agreement.

No consent preference is stored, and no local-storage keys were observed in the public-site check. The provider and purpose of __dpl, and Google cookies for signed-in visitors or after further interaction, still need confirmation before this can be described as a fully verified inventory. Hosting cookies are set by the hosting infrastructure, not by the Google consent control.

Browser controls

Most browsers allow visitors to inspect, delete or block cookies and site data. Blocking them may affect an external booking or video service. Browser controls do not replace the website operator’s responsibility to obtain consent where required. Visitors may also open external services directly using the available links, subject to those providers’ notices.

Contact and updates

Questions about cookies can be sent to deborah@deborahcleary.com. This list will be updated when services change or outstanding provider details are confirmed. Further guidance is available from the Information Commissioner’s Office.
